Beyond borders. School workshops to talk about migratory routes
Beyond Borders offers workshops in high schools and libraries to teach youngsters the routes migrants from Sub-Saharan Africa travel to reach Italy.
This allows for the participants to learn about such routes, the hardships within the migrants’ countries of origin, and the cruel, inhuman and degrading treatments they often have to endure.
Who are the people arriving to our country? Where do they come from? For how long did they travel? What are they escaping from? What are their rights in the EU? MEDU created the online map EXODUS to answer these questions. EXODUS describes in a simple—yet detailed—way the migrants’ routes from Sub-Saharan Africa to Italy, witnesses their struggles, violations, tragedies and hopes through their own stories.
These workshops for students are thought to include the study of the online map, team activities and/or interactive acting exercises. The libraries will also host workshops, exhibitions and meetings.
